Our STORY

We are a family owned and operated business since 2000 in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia. We aim to please our patrons and hope that when you leave you feel more like family than a customer. Specializing in gourmet, home cooked breakfast and lunch, Mercer Cafe has something for everyone. TOM WOLTJEN

Owner of Mercer Cafe

Tom Woltjen is a carpenter by trade and always had a dream of owning his own restaurant. He and his brother Bobby opened m Mercer Cafe in 2000 as an ice cream and coffee shop along with wife Dina. Eventually they grew the cafe into a full service breakfast and lunch restaurant highlighting their families favorite recipes. He is thrilled to have both of his children working alongside him in the business. Tom and Dina enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren, going on trips to the shore and seeing the latest shows in town after a nice dinner.

Thomas Woltjen

General Manager/Head Baker

Thomas Woltjen also grew up working in the two family businesses and always dreamed of making pizza like his grandfather. He was thrilled to finally have the chance to carry on the pizza making tradition in their family, like his grandfathers and uncles. Thomas is a graduate of Rowan university and Rutgers law school, but his heart was always in the family business. Thomas and his wife Molly have two beautiful children and they enjoy spending time with their families, going to ball games, and enjoying BBQ's and trips to the shore.
